This is an original old trophy won at the Roanoke Drag Strip in 1959. From what I’ve researched through old photos, it’s from the stock class. The Drag Strip seemed to use the type of car that was running for the trophy topper. This one has what looks like a 1957 Chevy on top. The coupes had a coupe, rails had a rail, motorcycles a motorcycle, etc...Also, from what I could find, none of the trophies were ever inscribed, but were left to the winner to do so.
There is an old Roanoke Times results article that was with the trophy when it was found.
The article also headlines local racing legend, Bob Bateman, as having set a record that day.
This is a big, beautiful trophy with no damage.
These are a tough find. The photos show the presentation of the same type of trophy with different toppers ,at the Drag Strip.
Possibly partial trade for a 7.62-39 or a super T10 transmission
