Taxes
I like to think of taxes as your rent payment you make towards living in this great country. You live in the best country in the world, therefore the rent will be pretty substantial. Many "middle income" families pay upwards of $25,000 a year in taxes for the right to live in the united states. When does this rent become absurd. That rent becomes absurd when the government is taking more than you're getting back. The founding fathers worded this as taxation without representation. Look at you and your family members next paycheck, look at how much taxes you've paid to live in this country. Then compare it to how much you've paid for other luxuries you have. If you're paying 25 thousand dollars a year in taxes, are you getting that much representation for your money? Probably not. In fact the museum you drive by, the community park, the rest areas, the federal buildings all cost 100x more than they should. Is there really shame in using a standard toilet in a small building in a rest area off the highway. Do we really need these micro palaces for taking a wizz on a road trip? No, but the problem with government is they feel that everything just needs more money to take care of the problems. They throw money at every problem the US faces today (except the national debt). Throwing money at problems doesn't fix them, it just makes them cost even more while they fail.
In fact Hillary Clinton admits that the US taxes everything that walks and doesn't walk.

That's when they decide to start printing money. Printing money raises inflation. Over the last year we've printed 120% MORE money that was existing 2 years ago. That means that your greenback dollar in your pocket is actually worth only HALF what it was worth a year ago. This may not bother you, only if you don't understand. Think about it this way. How angry would you be if the government came around and took all of your money and gave you back half. It would be terrible. Your investments, your paychecks and your savings would all be cut in half. That's essentially what has happened here. You're money is losing value very fast. When the dollar crashes where will we go from there?

A global warming update.

Health care reform.
Is health care a right, or is it a privelidge? Should the United States pay for someone's health care who finds their own health less important than their cable TV. Many Americans can get health coverage for about what they pay for internet, cable, and tivo service each month. The writer for our website "Hal the Red" is actually an insurance agent. He can tell you countless stories of people who have terrible pre-existing issues who are still covered at a rate that is easily affordable. If you ever get in an argument with someone over whether something is a right or not, here is my way of wording it so they will understand. If you are by yourself on an island, are you able to do the thing your debating about. Speach? Well your on an island, by yourself, you can talk all you want. Healthcare? Well again, you have the right to administer it yourself but that's about it.
Even if you're convinced everyone should have it provided to them from the government, can we afford it. Its like the poor family who sees a big screen TV and decides to charge it. Are they happier momentarily? probably. Are they going to regret it later when the payment burden comes knocking? Probably. This debate is not a matter of whether you want to pay for your neighbors health care or not, this is about being able to afford the payment on the home theater you decided to install (the home theater is health care in this analogy). They try to tell you that it will be revenue neutral, but it will cost 1 trillion dollars. How the hell does that math work out? I'll tell you how, under the current 2,000 page bill that they are proposing, the top 1% of earners taxes will be raised. Add that to most state income taxes and you'll have many of the rich in the united states who are paying more than 50% of their total income in taxes. Is that their fair share? That sounds a little bit excessive. Especially when you compare it to Thomas Jefferson's slaves. Jefferson gave his slaves HALF of what they produced for him. That means that Jefferson treated his SLAVES better than our current government treats our top earners. These top earners by the way, are the engine that drives this country. They're the ones who own the companies that give us jobs so that we can even have money. Take 30 thousand away from a top earner, and there's a possibility that they'll cut their losses and cut 30,000 out of their business budget. Sounds like you're job just became obsolete so that you can afford health care. Does that make sense to you? If you say yes, come back to me after your rich boss fires you, or takes away your health care, or drops your 401k plan, or doesn't give you or your co-workers that raise or bonus you've been looking forward to.
The White Houses war on Fox News.

The White House has hired Anita Dunn to be the media watchdog. Her sole job is to watch Fox News and report back to the White House on the "lies" that they propagate. In a sarchastic effort Fox's Glenn Beck has actually installed a phone on his set with a phone number that Anita Dunn is the only person who knows the phone number. He has begged Mrs Dunn to contact them whenever they lie.
The problem with this new tactic out of the Obama White House is that they are trying to stifle free speech. This isn't about whether you like fox news or not. This is all about trying to silence the only opposition that Obama has with the news media. I'm not sure if you've watched the other news channels or not, but they seem to toe the lines of loving Obama pretty well. After all the years of people accusing Fox News of "carrying the water of the GOP" how come no one is accusing the other networks of the same in regards to Obama?

This needs to be stopped. When a conservative watches a channel and they discover they don't like it, they change the channel. When a liberal watches a channel and they don't like the content, they try to shut it down.
