Comfortable with all sorts of pets, from pocket animals to livestock care (having worked with them all in both personal and professional circles) and also exotics (birds, reptiles, amphibians, etc.). I have a great deal of experience with dietary restrictions and needs as well as medical care (including first aid for pets and livestock if it would ever be needed!), medication dispersal, diabetic care, IV and IM injections and fluids, etc.

Research has shown that pets are less stressed when they are able to stay in their home environment. Allow me to help ease your travel worries and keep your family member as stress free as possible by caring for your pets in your home.

Overnights can be arranged for a slight fee increase. Care in my home can sometimes be arranged, certain restrictions apply inquire for details. Plant care, mail pick up, lawn mowing, domestic needs, errands etc. can also be negotiated to make your home seem lived in and kept up while you are away.

Because he was born with an orange heart on his back... And he has lived up to his name! Amor-ay was born here, after I pulled his mother from an abusive situaion in North Carolina. He was the runt of the litter, and I had to bottle feed him for the first 3 weeks. This made him extremely loving! He is also very small, and will probably stay a 'petite' kitty.

Amor-ay is a puuuurrrr box! He will follow you around and meow (asking to be picked up)... He will then proceed to lick you and puuurrrrr like crazy! He would be happy if you just gave him a toy, and a nice warm lap or blanket to sleep in. He has a very interesing orange and white pattern, and his heart is still there (we thought it may grow out but it didn't). He is very used to other cats and kittens... And even dogs!

Amor-ay is now 16 weeks old and ready for his new home! He has had all of his vaccines, been neutered, dewormed, and will come with a kitten kit including a $5 coupon for food. There is a minimal adoption fee to cover what sponsers have not yet covered.

Scarlett does not scratch anything, though she has taken to using a scratching post. She eats about a bowl of food a day, and has canned as a special treat! She loves to 'talk' to you, and she loves to be petted! He favorite spot? The window sill of course! She always uses her litterbox and covers it well. : ) She also gets along with other cats well! She had no issues with a ferret! And doesn't even seem to mind small dogs!

I always wonder about some of the ads on here because I am rather picky when it comes to my animals, but...

I drove from Roanoke to board my GoldenDoodle there and it was definitely worth the drive for anyone who truly wants their pet to be out of a kennel and in a relaxed setting. It has been a little while, but the setting was beautiful with other animals running around (it's a farm). It wasn't like the fancy places in town (no gift shop or soothing music in the waiting room :)...actually no waiting room), but the dogs weren't locked up in kennels with only a couple times out in the playground for potty breaks either...they were in and out of her personal home as they pleased.

My only recommendation is to get a bath before pick up because they are out playing and not cooped up, so they have to be getting dirty :)

The rates are very reasonable, too! Which helps compensate for the gas! If you choose to keep the animal in your care, it then becomes YOUR responsibility to make sure you leave a number of open outlets for the owner to contact you to claim their pet. Make sure Animal Control has a picture or a very detailed description of the pet and a contact number to reach you on should the owners come in to the pound to look for their animal. As mentioned before, dogs travel, and they travel fast, so make sure you let surrounding Animal Controls and shelters know of your findings as well. It would also be helpful to post FOUND flyers near where you found the dog and in surrounding areas. Almost all pet stores will allow you to do this. If you have the money, post an ad in the paper. (Ask the owner reimburse the ad fee when they claim their pet.) And lastly, find ways to post the FOUND pet on the internet; Roanoke Times, Craigslist, lost and found sites for Animal Control, etc...

The bottom line is keeping the best interest of the animal at heart. However you decide to go about finding the owners, it is critical that you do all in your power to make it possible for them to find their lost pet. Chances are...if they are responsible pet owners and are looking for their pet...they WILL find it as long as it is either AT Animal Control or as long as you are advertising it in every way you can.

Those that keep dogs at their homes until the owners are found are doing wonderful deeds. It's a big responsibility to take in a dog that is not yours and give it the care it needs if and until the owners are found. GOOD JOB TO YOU ALL! If you are unable to care for the dog, PLEASE take it to Animal Control. They work VERY hard there and do all in their power to reunite the animals with their owners. More than likely, if they are responsible pet owners, they will come to claim their lost pet 'immediately' and they won't give up searching until they find it.

If RESPONSIBLE pet owners are on vacation or out-of-town, then they WILL have someone caring for their animal while they are away...and their care taker should be checking the pound daily to claim the lost pet. I hate to be so crude, but if you don't know your animal if missing after 7 days...whether you are out of town or not...then either you are NOT a responsible pet owner or you need to FIRE your dog-sitter.

I've taken a little of what everyone has said and put it all into one big write-up. I think everyone, especially after reading this, is ready for this to be dropped. Potential new owner must have a large fenced in yard – OR live in the country where Lindsey can freely and SAFELY roam. If you plan to tie her to a tree or to a post press the back or the X button of your internet window. Lindsey will NOT live where she will not be able to roam freely. We will require you to allow us to come to your home so we can see that you have adequate arrangements.

Lindsey does enjoy being outside during the day, but at night she insists on coming inside to sleep. Whomever takes her home will have to agree to allow her to sleep inside at night.

Lindsey does NOT like 99% of men of any age….adults, teenagers, adolescents or small children. Ideally we would like to see Lindsey go to a home of a single female or a female couple with zero children. We are willing to let Lindsey meet men, but if she doesn’t take to him Lindsey will not be allowed to go home with you.

Unfortunately Lindsey has never met a child she likes so if you have young children in your home, please don’t bother.

Lindsey has an appointment this week to be spayed. So if you’re looking for a dog to breed to make a few bucks, keep looking. Lindsey is too old to be put through a pregnancy.

We have two other dogs and a cat that Lindsey gets along just fine with. I’ve taken her to my parent’s home with 4 dogs and she also got along just fine with them (usually she ignores them)

If I’ve came across as rude or hateful, I do apologize but we do not want to see this beautiful dog back in the same situation she was as when we found her. Please understand we love this dog dearly, but living in the city limits we’ve not allowed more than two dogs. When we rescued her, it was only supposed to have been short term. It took her over a month before she would even approach either of us. We’ve spent a lot of time and love working with her and getting her back to being a good dog. She is actually a GREAT dog. She is house trained, she listens very well (common Collie trait) If you want her to leave a room all you have to do is snap and point and she will walk away.

We have all of her papers and her pedigree chart. If you want the chance to have an amazing companion in your life, shoot us an email and we’ll see what we can work out! We are asking a small adoption fee of $75.00

I’m helping a neighbor find a home for his mother-in-law’s dog because she recently found out she has to enter an assisted living facility. If I didn’t already have two dogs, I’d adopt this one. He’s that nice. I can’t bear the thought of this dog going to the pound. He’s a short haired, sleek coated, medium sized dog – 50ish pounds. He’s an active dog, and loved romping around with my two dogs when I stopped by to take some pictures for this ad. The only two drawbacks are that he hasn’t been neutered yet (but was very mannerly around my female dog) and he may/may not be housebroken. My neighbor has been keeping him in an outdoor dog kennel and letting him out to run around twice a day. In a week Bo hasn’t gone to the bathroom in his 15 foot by 5 foot kennel, and only goes during his run outside, but my neighbor hasn’t had the dog inside his house to vouch for his housebreaking. Bo has never run off, or left the property when he’s let out of his kennel. My neighbor took him along on a 4 hour trail ride (on horseback) yesterday and Bo stayed right with him the entire time.

There is a $50 “rehoming fee” that will be given directly to your vet to pay for Bo’s neutering to assure he’s being adopted by someone with good intentions.
